  • East Coast Tour 3/7/09 to 3/18/09

Okay, moving on with our tour.

    3/7/09

We drove to Stamford, Connecticut.  We had a show that night at the Rich Forum.  This would be our last 7-person show for awhile.

Jason and me before the show.

After another successful show, we went out to dinner with a whole bunch of people that came to our show.  We ate at a Japanese restaurant that they kept open late just for us.

Priya came to the show and ate dinner with all of us.  Priya was my roommate in college and I only get to see her once every few years.  Every time I see her, though, it's like nothing changed.

We home-stayed at Sandra's beautiful house.  We stay here for a few days!

    3/8/09

I went running this morning for a good 45 minutes and then stretched and did some pushups and stuff for another 30 minutes.  It felt good to finally do something for myself, by myself.

That day, Maz facilitated a Basics Workshop for Otatsu Tiko, UConn Taiko, and Bowdan Taiko.  It was good to learn some naname basics myself, even though we were there to help out.

Sandra and her husband had a BBQ for us!

We helped out a little bit...

    Dinner time!

We watched our NEW RHYTHMIC RELATIONS 2008 DVD that night.  You can order yours now, too!!

But, before we watched the dvd, Bryan had to iron his fundoshi...

    3/9/09

We went shopping for some things we needed..

    We watched Coraline.

Bryan cooked some deeelicious lasagna for us that night!  MMM~

Before we move on to the next day.  I have to show you the shower that we used during our stay in Connecticut.

There were all these shower heads!  I loved their shower!

    3/10/09

We drove to Pomona, New Jersey.

DARREN, BYRON, JOHN, and SCOTT ARRIVE!!!!!!  Now, we're ready to do our  (re)generation show!!!
I was so so so happy to see them.

    Byron and Darren

    3/11/09

    (re)generation show at Stockton College

    3/12/09

We drove to Ohio.  Maz, Courtney, Byron, Darren, and I stayed in Cleveland to do an Omiyage workshop with Icho Daiko.  The rest of the cast drove to Oberlin to facilitate workshops with Oberlin Taiko.

Byron and I taught the shime/okedo part for Omiyage to Steve and Kai from Icho Daiko.  We taught them so much and they learned really fast.

That night, we stayed with Nozomi in Cleveland.

    3/13/09

We drove to Terre Haute, Indiana.  We loaded our equipment into the theater and while others worked in the theater to get ready for the show, Jen, Courtney, Tomomi, Jason and I did a lecture/demo show at Booker T. Washington Community Center.  Great crowd!  Thanks for having us!

That night, we ate at Cracker Barrel.  I've heard of this place... but never been there.

I had their chicken and dumplings, fried okra, ham, meatloaf, mac n cheese, greens, and cornbread.
    YUMMMM!!!!!!!!!

    3/14/09

    (re)generation show!

    Prep

The big blur in this picture on the right side is Scott.  I showed him the picture and told him that he's a big blur!  He said, "I'm always a blur".... but in reality, Scott and John are crucial to the show.  Scott was our Technical Director who did our lighting design.  John was our stage manager for the show, but he's also our Theatrical Director.  The audience doesn't get to see them, but they really make the show happen.

    Make up time!

The crew at the theater was amazing!

After the show, we ate and celebrated at Buffalo Wild Wings.

    Byron, Darren, Bryan

    Cheers!!!

    me and John

    Irish car bombs anyone?

    Good times

    3/15/09

The groups splits off into 2 again.  Jen, Bryan, Jason, and Tomomi drove to St. Louis, Missouri for workshops.  The rest of us drove to Bowling Green, Kentucky.

We ate at Steak & Shake for lunch.

    And drove...

I'm not quite sure what happened here... I think Byron had a headache and Darren was giving him a massage... but they both fell asleep.

I dunno why this is sideways. That's Scott in the front and John with his iPod.

    3/16/09

Maz, Courtney, Tomomi, Jason, and I did a lecture/demo at Western Kentucky University.  John and Scott came with us!

Afterwards, we met up with everyone else at the theater to load in.

    3/17/09

    (re)generation show!

I must say, the people in Kentucky were very warm and nice.  Everywhere we went, the service was excellent and the people just seemed happy overall here.

    3/18/09

We left Kentucky and drove to Nashville, Tennessee to drop off Darren, Byron, John and Scott at the airport.  I was sad to see them go, but they were only committed to doing the (re)generation shows.  Our van was much quieter without them.  We actually have about 10 more days after this.

We ate at the Pancake Pantry.

We waited in a long line.  It actually went really fast, though.

    mmm

It was actually my first time ever trying grits.  I have mixed feelings.  I think I need to try it again with other things mixed in.

Jen felt like eating some ice cream.... without using her hands!

    Then, we drove to Memphis.
Memphis had a different feel compared to Kentucky....

    Beale Street

PHEW, ok.  That's it for today!
    Thanks for visiting~!
